Stereomatic 500 Projector
(1953-)
This is the only projector that can project the View-Master images into 3D.
It was made in the two main colors black, beige and brown / beige.
In order to enjoy a picture in 3D, one must use polarizing glasses and a special film screen with silvery surface. The lamp is at 500 watts and must be cooled down with a built-in fan that sounds a bit.
The most common lens is 3 ", but there is also a 2 1/4" version. The advantage of 2 1/4 "lenses is that you can have the projector much closer to the film screen while maintaining the size of the image. For home use it is preferable. It does not make the image brighter by having the projector closer.
This was manufactured in 1992 by Tyco Industries Inc.
It is powered by two D batteries and works surprisingly well.
The yellow lens holder is rotated to get a clear focus and in a dark room you can project an image of approx. 25cm x 25cm
